Prevention for Diabetic Eye Diseases

Diabetic eye disease is the most commonly seen chronic complication for diabetes. The incidence rate for both eyes' blind is 25 times higher than non-diabetic patients. Diabetes patients with history of over 5 years have a 30% possibility of suffering diabetes eye disease.

Several ways to prevent the diabetic eye disease:
1.People with type 1 diabetes with the history of over 5 years should have a comprehensive checkups for the various chronic complications each year.

3.Annual eye exams should be done by both type 1 and type 2 diabetes by an ophthalmologist or optometrist.
