Sexual Life and Dialysis

Can Patients who undergo dialysis have sexual life? This is a common question we often meet. Generally, patients with stage 4 Renal Failure will have hyposexuality, because the pituitary gland can not receive the signals from testes and ovaries to produce sex hormones. And patients with end stage Renal Failure often have impotence and infertility in men, premature menopause in women, and low or totally absent sex drive in both genders. In addition, most patients with end stage Renal Failure have anemia, which is another negative influence on libido.
Large amount of toxins and excessive water can be discharged when patients just begin to take dialysis, so that physical function may return to normal level, which will be accompanied with normal physiological requirement. However, this condition will change during long term dialysis. In general, 35% male patients who are taking dialysis will have further decline of sexual function, the proportion of female patients is 25%. Only 9% male patients and 6% female patients will improve their sexual function.

The causes of Chronic Renal Failure

Do you know Chronic Renal Failure?
The causes of Chronic Renal Failure
Chronic Renal Failure refers to the damaged renal parenchyma with various causes. Kidney atrophies obviously, which can not maintain renal fundamental function. The clinical manifestations of Chronic Renal Failure are retention of metabolin, imbalance of water, electrolyte and acid-base as well as the involvement of the whole body.
Ⅰ Common causes:
① Infectious nephropathy: Chronic Pyelonephritis, nephrotuberculosis, etc.
② Chronic glomerulonephritis: IgA Nephropathy, Mesangial Proliferative Glomerulonephritis and focal segmental sclerosing glomerulonephritis, etc.
③ Toxic nephropathy: toxic nephropathy due to heavy metals, nephropathy due to analgesics, etc.
④ Vascular renal lesion: renal vascular hypertension, hypertension, renal arterial sclerosis, etc.
⑤ Genetic kidney disease: Polycystic Kidney Disease, Alport syndrome, etc.
⑥ Systemic disease: renal damage due to vasculitis, Multiple Myeloma and Lupus Nephritis, etc.
⑦ Renal damage due to abnormal metabolism: Diabetic Nephropathy, Amyloidosis Kidney Disease and Gouty Nephropathy, etc.
⑧ Obstructive Nephropathy: ureteral obstruction, reflux nephropathy and lithangiuria, etc.
Ⅱ Pathogenesis
① Surviving nephron theory: The majority of nephrons are damaged by various causes. And the surviving small part of nephron which is slight damaged and has normal function, has to do compensative work to maintain normal needs of the body, which causes the surviving nephrons to become compensatory hypertrophy. On this condition, both glomerular filtration rate and the function of renal tubules will increase. If this condition can not be prevented, glomerulosclerosis will occur. At last, the surviving nephrons will gradually decrease, as well as renal function.
② Uremia toxins theory: Uremic toxins may be the various substances which are accumulated in the stage of Renal Failure, such as PTH, phosphorus, urea, creatinine, guanidines, phenols and indole, etc. These substances have the following features:
1. Concentration content in the body is higher than that of normal.
2. High content is related to Uremia.
3. These substances can be detected by chemical analysis and quantitative determination.
4. The content of these substances is similar with that of the patient with Uremia.

Why the Young Get Kidney Failure

On mentioning Kidney Failure or failures of other organs, we can not connect them with the young, who are usually considered to be energetic or vigorous. However, it is reported that there is a tendency that more and more young people get severe diseases like Kidney Failure. Seemingly it happens suddenly, but Chronic Kidney Failure is a long term of damage to kidneys, which may be caused directly or indirectly by the bad habits in daily life. As for the young, there are two main reasons for Kidney Failure.
Life pressure and bad habits
At present, the world is full of competition. Children are educated to hold the ideal that they are not successful until they are more outstanding than others. In workplace, people tend to work overtime, because only the higher position can bring them better life. Most young people have difficulties in finding a suitable job and continuing to learn more to catch up with others. In competition of life and work, those young people are likely to have irregular lifestyles, such as not having breakfast or having just a little junk food, smoking and doing fewer sports. Finishing all work, most of them love indulging themselves in drinking, eating and other entertainment, which will break the order of kidney’s working. Longstanding unhealthy dietary regiment may cause toxin depositing and burden the kidneys.

Causes of Declining of Kidney Function

Most people with Kidney Failure feel confused why their kidney function will decline. My patients usually said to me that they have a good appetite and energetic everyday. Why they will get kidney failure? Why their kidney function is declining gradually? Do you have the same confusion? Actually the declining of kidney function is closely related to good living habits as well as some other factors.
The causes of declining of kidney function:
1. Eat too much meat can accelerate the declining of kidney function.
According the newest research, as for women with slight kidney dysfunction, there is too much meat in their daily diet, which will lead to the declining of kidney function. I addition, researchers also found that relatively protein intake for women with healthy kidney function will not lead to declining of kidney function. However, as for women with slight kidney dysfunction, overdose intake of protein will accelerate the declining of kidney function no matter vegetable protein or animal protein.
2. The kidney function in women begins to decline in their thirties.
Previously the researchers think that kidney function begin to decline in women’s thirties; however, recent research shows that women’s kidney function begin to decline gradually in their thirties. When people at their sixties or seventies they have no kidney disease but their kidney function must be very poor.

Smoking May Cause Kidney Failure

As we all know, smoking is the main factor of Lung Cancer, but it is commonly ignorance that smoking may cause Kidney Failure.
Kidney Failure is the course of kidney being destroyed and losing its functions gradually, which can be caused by many diseases, such as Chronic Nephritis, Lithangiuria, Chronic Pyelonephritis, Phthisis, diabetes and High Blood Pressure etc. Besides the Kidney Diseases, Phthisis, Diabetes and High Blood Pressure all can be caused by smoking.
Phthisis Tubercle bacillus invades into body and provokes the reaction of lymphocyte and phagocyte, which is allergic reaction in fact. Smoking decreases the immune ability and arouses respiratory tract infection or other diseases with infection and inflammation. Kidney Diseases are included. As we all know, all blood in the body must be flow through lung to exchange oxygen and exhale carbon dioxide. If kidney takes Phthisis, the virus will be brought into every organ by internal circulation. Kidney is one of the main victims. In the treatment of Phthisis, a lot of antibiotics are adopted, which is poisonous to kidneys for they must drain out though urine.

Kidney Failure Caused by Inflammation

Inflammation seems very common to people and most people don’t pay much attention to inflammation. Inflammation is an immune response that occurs when the body’s white blood cells and immune-fighting chemicals work to protect it from infective and foreign substances, such as bacteria, viruses and injuries. Inflammation is the natural defense the body takes on when it is under attack. But inflammation can also occur when there is nothing to fight or fend off. In this case inflammation “turns on the body” and can lead to diseases such as rheumatoid arthritis, hay fever and atherosclerosis. People with Chronic Kidney Failure can experience chronic inflammation that can lead to cardiovascular disease and even an increased rate of death.
There are some typical inflammations such as urine tract urine inflammation, enteritis, digestive system inflammation, which developed from slight inflammation. If more and more inflammatory factors, over the ability of white cells and immune-fighting factors, attack body part as well as blood vessels consistently, it will cause more serious inflammation to kidneys. Long-time kidney inflammation can lead to Kidney Failure. If people pay attention to slight inflammation, many people can avoid catching Kidney Failure.

Kidney Stone may Cause Renal Failure

Kidney Stone tends to occur among male between twenty years old and forty years old. The small one can drain out along with urine, after patients drink a lot of water or take some medicines that can dissolve the stones. It is troublesome that when one stone is removed, others are likely to happen. The large stones in the shape of antler are hard to deal with. Those stones can cause Renal Failure from the three following aspects.
Blocking the urinary system
Most kidney stones pass out of the body in the urine. On occasion, the large kidney stone in shape of antler can get stuck in a ureter and result in potentially serious, even life-threatening complications like uronephrosis. If a lot of urine can not drain out and deposits in renal pelvis and renal calices for a long time, the blood vessels will be squeezed and make the internal circulation slower than the normal conditions. The kidneys will be in the lack of blood and oxygen, which opens renal fibrosis and cause renal failure at last.

What Can We Do Excepting Waiting for Kidney Sources?

This is a message from internet, which makes me think a lot.
I am a woman from Suriname, I am 27 years old and I have taken kidney dialysis three times a week since last year. I really don't like it at all. My mom’s life ended while starting the therapy. I can not do anything that I liked to do. I am sad but I don't give up hope, day after day I am fighting. I have a lot of questions. What can I do to get a kidney transplant? In my country (Suriname) they don't do transplantations. Please help me contact others to help me, with finding information about transplanting kidneys or people who have had transplantation.
Many patients with Renal Failure have no choice but dialysis. Kidney Transplantation is destined to be adopted when the disease deteriorated in to the end stage. It is common that they tend to search the matching kidneys in advance. Once we suffer from Chronic Renal Failure, what can we do except waiting for Kidney source?

The Key Points to Lower Serum Creatinine

Many people with Kidney Failure have the symptom of high Serum Creatinine. High Serum Creatinine will seriously influence people's health and there will have some symptoms such as water metabolic disorder, sodium metabolic disorder, potassium disorder and acidosis and so on so that the treatment of high Serum Creatinine is very important to people's health. In the final analysis, high Creatinine is caused by the declining of kidney function. In order to know how to Lower Serum Creatinine, patients with Kidney Failure should first know what cause high Serum Creatinine.
The causes of high Serum Creatinine:
People with Kidney Failure know that the declining of kidney function can lead to high Serum Creatinine. Do you know the reason? Serum Creatinine is an important factor to judge whether the kidneys can work normally. When kidneys are damaged, the function of filtrating blood and producing urine will decrease so that extra wastes such as Creatinine can not be discharged out of body and then accumulated in blood. At this time, high Serum Creatinine can occur. The root to Lower Serum Creatinine is to recover kidney function. However, kidney fibrosis is the root cause of Kidney Failure.
